1) In case pigeons
must be kept away form a building, why is the electrostatic System
recommendable when there are other methods that have been used for
longer time? |

The Electrostatic System is an active deterrent for
pigeons because it works directly through perceptible impulses for
the pigeons, so that they feel a disturbance that keeps them away
without any harm. All other methods that are certainly obsolete,
are passive methods that disturb pigeons through their static presence
and obstruct in one way or another those architectural elements
on which pigeons use to pose. As a consequence their deterrent effect
is limited in time because sooner or later, pigeons get used to
it and come back, even in the presence of sharp ends or other obstacles.
Besides, some old methods such as ends, needles of steel or plastic
may hurt pigeons, provoking itching and even wounds.
It is easy to take pigeons out of their place. Any method is suitable
at the beginning: the true problem is to guarantee that pigeons
will never come back and this can only be guaranteed with an active
system like the Electrostatic System. |

Is the electrostatic installation a definitive solution for the
"pigeon problem" |

Our installation has been in the market for more than
30 years and it is patented. We have protected the most relevant
works of art in Italy and Europe. Superintendencies, Town Halls
and Italian and foreign organizations, approve and appreciate our
installation. Animals protectors accept our installation because
it makes no harm to pigeons. We provide guarantees for the preservation
of protected works from pigeons, because they do not get used to
electrostatic impulses.

3) What is this
installation made of? |

All the elements integrating the installation have
been examined and chosen so that all guarantees of duration and
functioning may be provided with. The active electrostatic lines
are made of non- rusting steel AISI 316/L resistant to acid and
salt environments. They are made of anti- polymerization polycarbonate
that work as isolating material beyond the supports of steel lines,
triple isolation interconnection cables with tension tested up to
15.000 volts peaks; generator of impulses receiving 230 V 50 Hz
with land wire (or through any other means such as batteries or
solar cells)
These are simply the main components of our installation. All these
elements are placed outside the building, and must be therefore
be examined so that they can last for long time, resisting the deterioration
caused by the weather or UV sunlight.. |

.4) What sort of
damage do pigeons produce in monuments? |

Pigeons´ droppings stain all architectural elements
affecting its esthetics. Besides, droppings are highly acid and
then highly corrosive and harmful for structures. Moreover, droppings
placed over the structures become humus under the influence of humidity,
and plants start to grow by introducing their roots in the cracks
and porosity of building supports. The progressive action of these
roots gradually crumble stones and bricks. |

5)Are pigeons carriers of contagious illnesses
for men?

Pigeons are direct or indirect carriers of about 60 illnesses,
some of which are contagious and even lethal for men and domestic
animals. We indicate here some of the main dangerous contagious
illnesses for men, as it has been published in the magazine "ABC
del Operario de Desinfección" (ABC for disinfecting
work) by Graciano Dado and other magazines specialized in medicine.
Cryptococcosis:
It´s one of the most dangerous illnesses. The infection
is generally originated in the lungs and spreads out through
the circulatory system reaching every part of the body. Encephaloid
and meningeal illnesses are generally lethal, specially for
children.
Ornithosis
This illness is characterized by an infectious scepticaemia
and an atypical pneumonia. The illness is transmitted through
the air, by breathing the dust of pigeons´ droppings.
The result is lethal for the lungs.
Istoplasmosis
It can show up as a serious or chronic infection in the immunity
system, which may be diffuse or localized. It can clinically
be confused with other illnesses, such as tuberculosis. This
infection is generally spontaneously healed, except for the
serious cases where it is lethal.
Apart from these illnesses, pigeons are also carriers of parasites
(i.e. ticks, fleas, louses and acarus)

.6)Is
your installation harmful for works of art? |

Our installation has been carefully examined in every
detail, so that once it is installed it is practically invisible.
Pigeons cannot be kept away from monuments by ways of placing harmful
installations to the esthetics of the works of art, and to pigeons´
droppings as well ! Besides, we have special care with fixing methods:
we would not let ourselves ruin elements of works of art that may
be of great value for mankind. In every delicate case, fixings are
made with special resins, so that no harm is done to the works of
art. |

Is your installation harmful for pigeons or men? |
| |
Our system does not damage birds, nor men. It is based
on the strict distribution of pure electrostatic peaks of tension
that lacks of electricity. That is the reason why our system is
completely harmless. Moreover, the interval of time between tension
peaks is of about 2,5, seconds and the contact with our installation
has no consequences. It is important to highlight that animals protectionists
support our system because pigeons are kept away with no harm. We
can even say that we also protect pigeons from men simply because
having no more disturbances in buildings, there is no need to cause
any damage to pigeons. |

.8) Is the use of
your product legally authorized? |

Yes, our installation does fulfill all
requirements imposed by the regulations of the European Economic
Community (EEC)
The system is provided with a suitable transformer of a double isolating
entry, ratio 1/1 to the regulations as an isolating transformer.

Is the electrostatic installation a high energy consumer? |
| |
Absolutely not ! The installation is based on the
deterrent effect of pure electrostatic peaks of tension that lacks
of electricity and then of consumption
Every electrostatic impulse is of a brief duration (about 80 microsec.):
they can be compared to tension lightings issued at a rhythm of
about one impulse each 2,5, seconds.
The generator of impulses needs to be excited in order to issue
impulses. This is achieved through a normal net tension of 230 V
50 Hz with a long lasting battery (6 months) with solar cells integrated
together with the mentioned generator, or using any other suitable
excitement method. It is because of this excitement (and not supply),
that a reduced consumption may be achieved, being equivalent to
7 Vats just like a small security lamp.

Is it installed by the company staff? |

Our installation is only installed by our highly specialized
staff. All staff at Ettore Galliani is trained before performing
installation works. We could never leave the installation of our
products in hands or third persons or temporary under the same usual
guarantees we always provide.
Staff engaged in projects and planning are of the same rank, importance
and qualification. |

Does the electrostatic installation interfere with audio- visual
or acoustic installations? |

Obviously not. Our system does not interfere with
any other electric or electronic installations. Besides, the cables
in amplifier and preamplifier systems are always protected against
any interference. |

12)
Considering that the installation is made of metal, does it also
work as a lightning rod? |
| |
Absolutely not. Our installation is only aimed at
keeping pigeons away. Circuits are always connected to earth by
their negative pole. No electric potency is in danger. No attraction
for lightings is possible. |

13)
How does the installation work in case of rain or snow ? |
| |
It is no a problem. Our generator of electrostatic
impulses keep on working and the electrostatic tension impulses
spread out in water or snow with no harm. Once it stops raining
and humidity does not spread the impulses or the snow melts down,
the installation starts working again just as before. |

14)
How much does the installation cost? How much does the line meter
or square meter of the protected façade cost? |

It is no possible to put a valuation on the installation
in such a way, and it is less likely to do it in terms of lineal
or square meters, because the installation is in fact an integrated
system. Therefore, we can only offer a whole price, all inclusive
(materials, working force, taxes, etc), and normally exclude only
platforms or any other means necessary for fixing the installation
in the heights.
The meter cannot be valuated because the installation is closely
related to the complexity of architectural elements which always
differ in one case or another. The cost is remarkably related to
the working force rather than to the materials, and then it is enough
to imagine how much pricey is the protection of a baroque or gothic
building compared to a straight modern one, even when dimensions
are equal.
Other costs difficult to valuate on the whole are expenses, project
and supervision costs, and others relative to non-divisible elements
(i.e. generator of impulses)
The preparation of a budget all inclusive guarantees e fixed and
non- varying price for the client. We assume all valuation risks
as if the client needed to count with a financing plan in advance.

15)
How much does the effect against pigeons last? |
| |
Pigeons do not get used the disturbances produced by electrostatic
impulses. They behave exactly the same for many years as from
the first day. We can therefore guarantee that our Electrostatic
System -when following an integral protection pattern - keeps
definitively all pigeons away from protected zones.
Besides, there is no need of maintenance as long as the installment
is not damaged by external agents. As there are no more pigeons,
the periodical cleaning of monuments or buildings and their sidewalks,
becomes unnecessary. This derives in a remarkably economic advantage,
beyond esthetics and the preservation of architectural structures.
